The barrel is a Colerain 24ga,44" oct to rnd that I 16ed, the lock is Davis, everything else is made by me from scratch- barley corn sight, silver thumb-piece, trigger, trigger plate, trigger guard, side plate, butt plate, thimbles, entry pipe, RR and tip and the screws for everything(couldn't find any slotted screws anywhere) the screws were a real pain. I was really surprised how light and perfect a fit it seems when you bring her up to sight, they really knew what they were doing. Now I know why they were so sought after for so long. Hope ya like
Yes, I do like. Very much. Fabricating the metalwork is in itself impressive and the gun is beautiful.
Mongrol I've seen your work and that's pretty high praise for this po' country bumpkin, Thanks
Beautiful Is the only word that fits.
FANTABULOUS! :applause:

I'm pretty good at what I do but I stick within my comfort zone, which is shaping wood and assembling other people's parts to that wood. I can cobble together some very functional but still very plain steel hardware, with access to oxy-acetylene and some form of wire-feed welder. As long as I stick to all that I have no problem accepting being told that I do good work.
My initial reaction to studying your gun's furniture was to assume high-grade wax-cast pieces from one of the better suppliers of such stuff, and that was after studying your gun overall and liking what I saw. The fact you made all that stuff bumps your gun and work from being really good, to what I said before -- flat-out impressive. thmbsup
Sure is a beauty. Fantastic work. thmbsup BH

Very nice. I love these.
I like it LOTS [conf]
Finally got out to the range with her, I absolutely love smooth bores now, amazingly accurate for an unrifled gun with no rear site, just a groove. Took a lot of info from members here about the secret being patching and maintaining a clean bore, am looking forward to trying my hand at some fowl this year and maybe a bunny or two with shot. Thanks to everyone here for the advice. Have another barrel and lock (smooth Cole 16ga oct/rnd 46", Davis Trade lock) for my next smoothy. Thanks to this site I'm having a ball, building and shooting thmbsup hntr hntr

hntr Heeyyyyyy Naulty,,,,,has ya fired her off yet.Anxious to see how she does.
NAULTRICK1, I'm dang near speechless ...that Fusil D' Chasse you built is gorgous and just what I want for a F&I smoothie flinter ... the wood and metal work is fanominal ... along with the fit and finnish. I am wanting a Chiefs's Trade Rifle so to speak or there's another name for the Fancy Governor's or Rich class of Fusil D' Chasse and British or German rifles of this Class/School or period.
Now I now I want a French Rifle or Elite Trade Rifle in 58cal/24ga? Simular to what you have built.
Xlint job...
YHS,
SG
its beyond beautiful, the knid of beauty that takes ones breath away
That is a remarkable rendition of what I consider to be the prettiest style muzzleloader ever made!!!
