last night, and even right now, fog and water dripping off the roof. Just for giggles and grins I hung two smoked buks under the awning of the deck to see what happens. Right now the bucks feel damp and clamy. I want to see if they need to be broken back when they dry.
Well, they are dry now and took no breaking back. Somewhere along the line I must have done something right........
Pretty cool how that works aint it!! :applause: I have a large buck hide smoking right now. I have made myself a simple smoke house I dug a pit with a pair of post hole diggers about 30 inches deep Than took an old dog kennel one about the size yall had for Tommy when he was a kid...Took a couple pieces of nylon twine and tied em to make two lines to hang the hide on Than wrapped the kennel with a trap so the smoke will stay in it . Hope it works like i planned !
Sounds interesting, does it act like a chimney?

The way i have this designed it is like a big chimney what amounts to being a huge box fills with smoke there is small hole i made in the top and the smoke vents from there just like an old brick chimney But i think i may need to add a very small fan to help circulate the smoke a bit more. other than that it seems to work okay does take longer than just sewing em into A tube with a skirt attached to cover the smoke pipe on my smoker/grill which is what i had been using. I 'm just doing a lot of experimenting right now with different ways of doing things .You know me always curious what happens if i do this or that, lookin for easier ways to do things.. [hmm]
Kinda like I did when I had the plywood smoke house built, ran a fan to circulate the smoke and prevent soot from forming on the tops of the hides. Sounds like a good idea.
