Title: Before I Go
Post by: Chaffa Hosa on September 06, 2008, 11:42:52 PM
To my first Rondy
I don't have $1000.00 to spend on clothes, tents and equipment
Could I even get in the front door dressed like this or just forget it?
I have another shirt being made with unbleached onasburg cotton
And I know the hat aint right but its righter than a ballcap  ::)

looks good! but i'd lose the hat and make some moccasins they wont like the boots. i cant afford the tent either so i took my tent trailer, they usually have a place for modern style camping. hell my trailer was free.

OK, I'm sorry. ::)

Ya know, I have become a regular at the local thrift stores.
Sometime you can find some nifty "old time looking" clothes and hats.
Maybe not 100% or even 80% "correct" but maybe can be modified if desired.
Price will be right too.
Don't forget to check out the knick-knack isles. Pots, pans, lanterns, wood items galore.

Bob

Looks like you're ready for rendevous, Jerry! Outfit looks great for a new skinner! You can get yourself a pair of plain toe leather shoes at walmart that would work for ya if you are that concerned about the work boots (I wouldn't be).

Jerry as the expression goes "you have to pick your battles".  I woulden't try to go to a juried event with that outfit but for the more local style rondys you should have no trouble, just let them know that this is your first event and they will be all over you helping.  The trick is to be more authentic the next time you go to the same event.  That way they can see that you are trying.

Just my openion, "take my openion and $10.00 and you can eat lunch most anywhere."   Doug

I am still working on the dye in the pants I just put them back in the soup with a handfull of iron oxide, heated it to almost a boil and turned off the fire
